Google bans sanctioned Russian performers after request from Lithuania
Google has informed the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission (LRTK) that it has removed the official accounts of EU-sanctioned Russian performers at the Lithuanian media watchdog's request, BNS reports.
These were the active official accounts of Oleg Gazmanov, Nikolai Rastorguyev, leader of Russia's nationalistic rock band Lyube, Grigory Lepsveridze, better known as Grigory Leps, Yuliya Chicherina, Yaroslav Dronov (Shaman), Viacheslav Manucharov, and Polina Gagarina, the LRTK said on Friday. The move follows the watchdog's request to Google and YouTube on Wednesday to remove the official accounts of the individuals on the EU's sanction list. In the wake of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the EU drew up a list of individuals and entities subject to sanctions. These entities are deemed responsible for actions that undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of Ukraine. RELATED
