Animest, PRO TV launch script contest for animated series
Animated film creators in Romania will finally have a launch platform for their projects, a competition dedicated to animated TV series scripts: Toon Scripts. Entries are open until September 1, 2024, and can be made by filling the form here
Although it is in the top of the preferences of the series-devouring public, animated films still represent a little-explored territory in Romanian cinema. Through this contest, Animest aims to encourage the writing of scripts for animated TV series. The competition gives authors visibility and the chance to meet potential partners, which is an important step in turning proposals into productions. Since 2006, Animest has presented at the festival various pilot episodes of famous animated film series, such as The Simpsons, Afro Samurai, but also more recently Death, Love and Robots and Scavengers Reign, the screenings of which were accompanied by meetings with special guests present in Bucharest. Authors are invited to send script proposals for animated TV Miniseries of 6 or 8 episodes of a minimum of 20 minutes and a maximum of 25 minutes, for any target audience. Until September 16, a jury appointed by the Animest Association and PRO TV will select a maximum of 5 finalist projects. During the Animest Festival (October 4-13, 2024), the finalists will participate in an applied project development workshop led by an experienced TV producer appointed by PRO TV and Animest. The workshop program will require participants 1-3 days and will be announced in September. The author of the winning script will sign a contract to develop the pilot episode and the bible of the series, under the guidance of experienced TV producers, contract worth 5.000 euros gross. The winner will be announced at the Closing Gala of the 19th Animest International Animation Film Festival. The Animest Festival is a project of the Animest Association, co-financed by the MEDIA Program of the European Union and the Administration of the National Cultural Fund. RELATED
