Netflix announces 12 new Turkish Originals
Netflix has brought many Turkish stories both for local and global audiences since 2016, the streamer announced in a press release.
In the upcoming year and beyond, Netflix continues its commitment to bring even more thrilling stories from the market to the world across a wide variety of genres, ranging from drama, rom-com, and comedy to action and animation. Özge Bağdatlıoğlu, Director, Series, Netflix Turkey, said: "It’s an honor to unveil our diverse new slate of Turkish stories, celebrating the creativity that defines Türkiye. With an exciting blend of genres, each show stands as a testament to the talent and brilliance of local creators, both on and off camera. We’re committed to amplifying Türkiye’s authentic voices, and we’re thrilled to offer our members in Türkiye and around the world a first glimpse into these stories, inviting them into the heart of our culture, imagination, and artistry." Speaking on stage at the Next on Netflix event earlier today, Özge Bağdatlıoğlu also shared news of 12 new productions and two returning seasons for Netflix in the upcoming months. Accompanied by exclusive brand-new footage from the upcoming films and series as well as unreleased behind-the-scenes material from in-production titles, the guests were able to grasp a comprehensive picture of the upcoming slate including: Abandoned Man - Story of a broken soul, starring Mert Ramazan Demir; Bet Your Life - Ata Demirer’s first-ever collaboration with Netflix; Graveyard - Second season of the highly expected show; Gupi - Local animation series from Gupse Özay; Istanbul Encyclopedia - First ever series of award-winner director Selman Nacar; Lefter: The Story of The Ordinarius - A feature film unpacking the extraordinary life of the legendary soccer player; Letters from the Past - A heartwarming young adult story; Lovers Anonymous - A love hospital to find a cure to love, starring Halit Ergenç and Funda Eryiğit; Old Money - A drama series that features the conflict between old and new money; Platonic - A comedy series of which Gupse Özay wrote the script with Onur Bilgetay and played the leading role; Thank You, Next S2 - Returning season of Ece Yörenç’s beloved show; The Town - Directed by award-winning Seren Yüce; To Love, To Lose - Created by Yavuz Turgul; And Museum of Innocence - Adaptation of Orhan Pamuk’s world famous novel.
