![]() Turkey fines streaming giants over content violating ’moral values’
Turkey’s broadcast watchdog has imposed fines on several major streaming platforms including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Mubi, HBO Max, and Disney Plus for allegedly violating "national and moral values," according to state-run Anadolu Agency.
The regulatory action targets five movies that Turkish authorities claim "ignore family values." The content in question reportedly includes queer themes, which prompted the crackdown. In addition to financial penalties, the streaming services must remove the five films from their catalogs available in Turkey. The specific titles of the movies and the amount of the administrative fines were not disclosed in the report. This move represents the latest instance of content regulation by Turkish authorities against international streaming platforms operating in the country. RELATED
