Apple acquires Poland’s MotionVFX to strengthen creator subscriptions
 18 Mar 2026
Apple has acquired Polish video software developer MotionVFX in a move aimed at strengthening its growing subscription ecosystem for creative tools.

MotionVFX, known for developing plugins, templates, and software solutions primarily for Final Cut Pro, confirmed the acquisition, stating it will continue to support creators and editors while aligning more closely with Apple’s focus on quality, usability, and design. Apple has not disclosed the financial terms of the deal.

Founded in 2009, MotionVFX has built its reputation around extensions for Final Cut Pro, later expanding into tools for DaVinci Resolve and, to a lesser extent, Adobe Premiere Pro. The company has developed a wide portfolio of graphic extensions and software enhancements, continuously updating its products with improved algorithms and new releases.

The acquisition comes as Apple pushes deeper into subscription-based creative services. In January 2026, the company launched its Creator Studio bundle, which includes Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Pixelmator Pro, alongside additional premium features. The offering is positioned as a direct competitor to Adobe Creative Cloud.

Industry reports suggest MotionVFX’s tools could be integrated into the Creator Studio package, enhancing its value proposition for professional and aspiring creators.

Financially, MotionVFX reported a decline in sales revenue from PLN 33.57 million to PLN 28.19 million in 2024, though its net loss narrowed significantly from PLN 16.87 million to PLN 5.68 million, supported by higher financial income.

The acquisition also aligns with Apple’s broader strategy of expanding its high-margin services segment, which continues to see strong growth. In the quarter ending December 27, 2025, Apple posted $143.75 billion in revenue, up 15.6% year-on-year, while services revenue rose to $30.01 billion, underlining the increasing importance of subscription-driven business lines.
