CEESrebrenicaDocs 2026 opens call for new titles
The Srebrenica Memorial Center has officially invited directors, independent authors, and production companies to submit their films for the second edition of the documentary film festival SrebrenicaDocs. Scheduled to take place on June 8-11 in Srebrenica, the event is part of the Srebrenica Outreach Project, supported by the UK Government. The festival serves as a vital platform for documentary film as a tool for dealing with the past, focusing on memory, transitional justice and the regional context of the Srebrenica genocide.
The call is open to professionals, independent creators and film students from BiH and abroad with a deadline for applications until May 20. The film projects that will be allowed to participate must be produced since 2022 onwards and to include Bosnian / English subtitles. Project manager Mirela Osmanović emphasized the importance of the event, stating: 'A documentary film is one of the most serious ways in which a society can face the difficult pages of its own history. SrebrenicaDocs wants to be a place where these films get an audience that understands them and who came precisely for them. We invite authors whose work deals with these topics to join us and bring their films to Srebrenica'. The festival aims to fill a significant gap in the regional media landscape, as many documentaries on such sensitive subjects often struggle to find platforms for their adequate presentation. Spokesperson Almasa Salihović - Huseinović added: 'SrebrenicaDocs is a direct response to that gap. We especially invite young authors and independent productions not to hesitate to sign up. By sending their applications, candidates automatically agree to a non-profit screening, while all copyright and property rights remain with the authors, thus ensuring that the festival remains a dedicated space for historical reflection and responsibility.
