CEEWBD and Doğuş launch Turkish series on HBO Max
As part of a strategic partnership signed between Warner Bros. Discovery and Doğuş Medya, Star TV's ambitious new series Tuzlu Kahve (Salty Coffee) will be available on HBO Max as the sole digital broadcaster, just 24 hours after its television broadcast in Turkey.
The two companies said that this strategic partnership, combining the wide reach of television with the global scale of digital broadcasting platforms, will facilitate the access of Turkish productions to audiences worldwide. As part of the agreement, Warner Bros. Discovery will handle the local and global digital broadcast rights for the series, as well as its airing on television channels in countries such as Italy, Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria. Deniz Şaşmaz Oflaz, Head of Local Original Productions at Warner Bros. Discovery, said: "Turkey is one of the world's most dynamic production markets, with rich creative talent and stories that resonate far beyond its borders. Our partnership with Doğuş Yayın Grubu combines Star TV's established broadcast reach with Warner Bros. Discovery's production and digital broadcasting capabilities to create a model designed to support the growth and wider distribution of Turkish content. We are delighted to begin this collaboration with the series Salty Coffee, which captures the sincerity, humor, and emotional depth that viewers value in Turkish storytelling." Star TV Content Director Şebnem Aksoy Açıkalın stated: "It's very exciting to introduce Turkish series, which have now become a global brand, to new viewers every day. The agreement we made with HBO Max created a very meaningful opportunity and platform for this. I hope the platform's viewers will enjoy watching Salty Coffee and that this first step will be the beginning of a long-term collaboration." Produced by Polat Yağcı and Poll Films, Salty Coffee brings the spirit of traditional neighborhood and family comedy to the screen with a modern approach. The story begins with the meeting of Derin, the daughter of one of Istanbul's established families, and Mehmet, the heir to a holding company who has returned from America. As the young couple, who want to get married, bring together two seemingly incompatible families, the fun test of love between families, traditions, and generations is conveyed to the audience.
