CBS Studios International and MTG TV Latvia announced a format licensing agreement for the Latvian version of I Love Lucy.

As CEETV reported earlier this summer, Sweetheart Monika is returning with 10 new episodes on LNT in September.

“I Love Lucy is one of the most influential sitcoms of its time and has entertained audiences around the world for over 60 years,” said Paul Gilbert, Senior Vice President, International Formats, CBS Studios International. “We are pleased to be working with MTG TV Latvia to bring this iconic format to local audiences.”

“Sixteen years ago Sweetheart Monika was the most popular sitcom in Latvia. There is arguably no one in the country who isn’t familiar with the bubbly and energetic character. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of LNT we decided to bring back Monika. We believe it is one of the most awaited television events of this autumn,” says Ginta Bormane, PR manager at MTG TV Latvia.
