You read it first! Eccho Rights confirms Greek adaptation of Servant of the People #KMW2017
Eccho Rights confirmed yesterday that Servant of the People, the hit comedy series from Ukrainian producers Kvartal 95, is getting a Greek remake. CEETV reported first in August that Star Channel is adapting the format.
Eccho Rights also announced that the scripts have been optioned for a French remake, while the original series will air in Korea this fall. The series, which returns to 1+1 this autumn for a second season, has been a resounding success in Ukraine, and was turned in to a feature film in 2016. The first season has developed a cult following online, with many millions of viewers for its official uploads on Youtube, and has won positive reviews after arriving on Netflix earlier this year. In Korea, the series will air on HQ Plus as the first ever foreign content for the channel. A channel dedicated to themes of happiness and family, the political comedy of Servant Of The People will add a new twist to the schedule when it airs in November. In France, award-winning production company Elephant Story have taken an option on the scripts. The format was also sold to Fox Studios in the US last year. Servant of the People tells the story of unlikely hero Vasily, a school teacher whose rambling rant about the failing politics of his homeland is caught on camera, goes viral, and ultimately sees him unwillingly voted President. Servant of the People was Ukraine’s highest rated TV series in fall 2015, becoming a record-breaker on 1+1 in all demos. The show was also featured in Pitch & Play for the NATPE Miami 2016 edition of TVBIZZ Magazine. RELATED
