You read it first! NBCU International Formats confirms Celebrity Game Night deal in Russia
NBCUniversal International Formats announced today a deal with Russia’s leading broadcaster CTC, for a new local version of Celebrity Game Night. This marks the 21st version of the format, which has also been produced in the UK, Sweden, France, Spain, Turkey, French Canada and across Eastern Europe.
Produced by Andrei Boltenko’s (The Eurovision Song Contest) production company M.I.R, the 12x60’ local version will air on CTC channel this fall. As CEETV reported in March, the channel announced the new project with the host of Thank God You’re Here! Mikhail Shats iunder the title It was in the Evening (Delo Bylo Vecherom). In the new program, famous people will compete with each other. Participants will play various and sometimes unexpected contests, trying on different roles. In the final of each episode, the captain of the winning team will pick one celebrity, which whom he/she will continue fighting for a cash prize of 500.000 rubles. Entertainment has commissioned a local South African version of Celebrity Game Night, which will be produced by Rapid Blue – the production company behind South Africa’s versions of Got Talent and Bake Off. Production on the ten-part series will commence in July and it will air on E! later this year. NBCUniversal International Formats has also signed a deal with SVT, for a second season of the show in Sweden, following the success of season one. Produced in-house by SVT Göteborg, the 10x60’ local version entitled Alla för en (All for One) will air on SVT1 in autumn. It will also be made available on the broadcaster’s SVoD platform, SVT Play. Renowned singer and comedian Josefin Johansson (På Spåret/On the Right Tracks) has been confirmed to host season two. Hollywood Game Night will also return for a fifth season on Radio Canada Tele. The 145x60’ version will air in French Canada in autumn. A third season of the hit format will also launch on Channel 3 in Thailand next month and a third season is currently on air in Hungary on RTL Klub. Produced in-house, the 16x60’ Hungarian version entitled Gyertek át! has been a ratings success since it launched in February. A UK version of the format was also commissioned by Channel 5. Produced by NBCUniversal International Studios’ production company Monkey, the six-part series is hosted by actor, presenter and radio personality, Liza Tarbuck (BBC Radio 2, Upstart Crow, Linda Green) with team captains, Danny Baker – the award-winning broadcaster (BBC Radio 5 Live) and author, and comedian, actress and writer, Susan Calman (Strictly Come Dancing, The Boss). The series, also entitled Celebrity Game Night, is currently on air every Friday at 11 PM on Channel 5. RELATED
