You read it first! Banijay confirms (the) Ukrainian Younger
Banijay Rights today announced a new adaptation for the hit Darren Star (Sex and the City) created US series Younger in Ukraine.
As CEETV reported in early September, the pilot for the Ukrainian remake has already been shot, as confirmed by Novy’s GM Olga Zadorozhna in an interview with Detector Media. Banijay's press release said that Novy “in the Ukraine” has commissioned Art Forms Productions to produce a 24-episode season to premiere early next year. The deal was negotiated by Alexander Rubanov, VP Russia, CIS, Ukraine, Georgia, Baltics and Turkey, Banijay Rights. The commission follows recent adaptations of Younger in China and South Korea, in deals struck by Banijay Rights. Claire Jago, EVP Sales and Acquisitions, Banijay Rights, said: “Throughout its successful run in the US, Younger has built up a strong audience base with stunning characters and universal themes. We’re in no doubt this local adaptation will resonate strongly with viewers in the(?!) Ukraine.” As CEETV wrote three months ago, the main role in the series is played by Olha Zhukovtsova. According to the plot, a forty-year-old woman learns of her husband's betrayal and abandons him. She looks great, but all her life she was engaged in home and raising her daughter and worked only a few years. And so she starts from scratch, trying to find a job as an editor. "However, no one with such experience and at this age hires her. And then she decides to cheat: she says that she is 26 years old, she recently graduated from university and is ready to look for a job. She succeeds in this, it remains not to expose herself. But she is forty, and she doesn't understand slang, she doesn't know what music her "peers" listen to, what movies they watch, she has a problem with Instagram. In addition, her lover is a 25-year-old boy," Zadorozhna described the show. RELATED
