Ukrainian regulator asks the EU to ban all Russian propaganda channels
Ukraine's National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council has asked the EU to ban all Russian propaganda channels, as confirmed by the chair of the regulator Olha Herasimiuk for Apostrophe TV. "We have asked the EU to include all Russian propaganda channels alongside RT and Sputnik," she said.
Herasimiuk also drew attention to the fact that the French regulator, which has jurisdiction over the satellite (Eutelsat Communications) where Russian propaganda channels are broadcast, did not respond to the request of the National Council. Most of the satellites broadcast by Russian channels are under French jurisdiction: Hotbird 13B / 13C, Eutelsat 36B, Eutelsat 7/8 and Eutelsat 16A. The satellite capacity from which these channels are retransmitted belongs to the French company Globecast (part of France Telecom). On March 2, the European Union banned the broadcasting of Russian propaganda resources Sputnik and Russia Today on the territory of the union. RELATED
