Petition calls for ban of Russian channels in Kazakhstan
A petition has been launched in Kazakhstan with a request to ban the broadcasting of Russian TV channels in the country, the online edition Orda.kz reports. The appeal was signed by over 2.500 people.
The text of the petition says that Russian TV channels are "brainwashing tools" and their actions "contradict not only professional ethics and universal morality, but also directly contradict the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan." The authors of the petition call on the government to stop the broadcasting of Russian TV channels in the republic. The appeal was created on March 2, after the start of the war in Ukraine. Meanwhile, the Estonian regulator has ordered local ISPs to block access to seven Russian websites that "spread military propaganda." Among them are the websites of Russian TV channels ntv.ru, ren.tv, 5-tv.ru, 78.ru and 1tv.com, as well as the website of the news agency tass.ru and the online resource lenta.ru. The restrictions will be in effect for 12 months. Earlier, over 20 international providers excluded Russian TV channels from their packages. Restrictions were introduced by telecom companies from Australia, Canada and most European countries. RELATED
