Suspilne catalog presented for the first time at MIPTV
 10 May 2022
For the first time, the National Public Television and Radio Company of Ukraine (Suspilne) took part in the annual MIPTV market in Cannes and presented its own products to potential buyers. Hryhoriy Tychyna, Suspilne’s General Producer, talked to mbr.com.ua about the pubcaster’s portfolio. According to him, a joint catalog of five media groups was formed from Ukraine, among which the products of Suspilne were presented.

“The peculiarity of Suspilne’s catalog was that it was dominated by documentary content, as one of our main tasks is to objectively inform about events in Ukraine. We pay a lot of attention to documentary production. First of all, I mean the projects Collapse: How Ukrainians Destroyed the Evil Empire, Maidan. Six Letters of Our Freedom, Strong, People of the Zone and many others. The Cannes catalog also featured two animated projects - Toto and Adventure Portal. We hope that our products will help other countries to better understand Ukraine and Ukrainians," said Hryhoriy Tychyna.

Suspilne saw considerable interest from foreign TV companies in its production projects after MIPTV, and several agreements on the sale of broadcasting rights are currently being prepared. Details about what content is sold and in which territories, the company will be able to announce only after the final conclusion of these agreements.

"The exchange of television products with foreign public broadcasters has taken place before within the European Broadcasting Union, a member of which is Suspilne. However, the willingness to buy our product is a testament to its level of quality, which has now grown significantly, and the content has begun to attract much more attention," Tychyna added.

The General Producer shared that with the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the demand for news footage, for which foreign documentarians turn to Suspilne, has significantly increased.
