"If you think you have a unique documentary project idea but are in need of additional financial support - this is your answer. We provide you with an opportunity to pitch your project to Al Jazeera Media Network decision makers and many other leading industry professionals," Al Jazeera announced.

The Call for Projects is exclusively for documentary filmmakers from the Southeast Europe, the Caucasus, the Middle East, and North Africa (MENA) region or documentary projects dealing with topics from the aforementioned areas.

Entries are open from 4th March to 31st May 2024. Project submission is free of charge and the accepted projects will be notified of the results by the end of July 2024.

AJD Industry Days is announcing a call for the following projects:

MAIN PITCH – accepting all stages of project development and production by independent filmmakers and production companies

ROUGH CUT – projects in the post-production stage, intended for broadcasting on Al Jazeera or other international broadcasters and platforms

BALKAN STARS – the development stage of projects and production suitable for regional and international co-production with Al Jazeera Balkans/Al Jazeera Documentary or other broadcasters

The AJD Industry Days platform will provide documentary filmmakers from the Southeast Europe, Caucasus, the Middle East, and North Africa (MENA) region with an opportunity to network with decision-makers and leading professionals from both regional and international film and TV industries.

Accepted project owners will be informed accordingly and invited to present their projects on-site in Sarajevo to this years’ board of international broadcasters and prominent professionals that will decide on this year’s winners who will obtain funding for documentary production and support for their broadcast, distribution, screening, and sales worldwide.

The total prize fund provided by Al Jazeera Documentary Channel, Al Jazeera Balkans and all project partners in 2023 was 100,000 USD, and comparable prize fund will be allocated in 2024, too.

AJD Industry Days is held alongside the Al Jazeera Balkans Documentary Film Festival (AJB DOC) which became recognized as a unique platform for TV-documentaries regionally and worldwide. AJB DOC Film Festival will be held from 13th to 17th September 2024.
