You read it first! Viasat World confirms launch of true crime channel
About two weeks ago, CEETV reported that Viasat World is planning to launch a new channel in Poland, and today the broadcaster spread the news officially announcing a partnership with Canal+ to launch Viasat True Crime. The quote from the press release follows below:
Viasat World has partnered with global audiovisual group, Canal+ as both the primary broadcaster, and technical partner for the new channel. Viasat True Crime will take channel position 219 on the CANAL+ platform, and be available in the Relax+ and higher packages. Viasat True Crime will focus exclusively on true crime programming, including marquee documentaries of shocking real-life cases, chilling true crime drama series, and gripping crime-fighting reality shows. Expert curation will be a signature feature of this unique channel, made richer by telling stories across multiple content genres, providing viewers with a distinctive breadth of programming. Viasat World has also secured the SVOD and FAST rights for much of its launch content. Viasat True Crime will be dedicated to lifting the tape and getting behind the stories of the world’s most shocking and audacious crimes, with access to leading experts, dramatic footage, prosecutors, investigators, witnesses, criminals and victims, viewers of the new channel will be able to follow each investigation to its conclusion. Viasat True Crime will also include dramatic crime-in-action shows featuring real-life crime-fighters and lawmakers as they work to put criminals behind bars. From police officers, court officials, prison guards and customs officers, viewers will follow these teams every step of the way. Uniquely, Viasat True Crime will feature premium true crime drama content - including award-winning films and series featuring internationally renowned casts - which tell the stories of some of the most notorious and unsettling crimes of our age. From launch, Viasat True Crime will include documentaries on front-page cases including: The Clown and the Candyman (Cineflix Rights) and Married to a Psychopath (Abacus Media Rights); true crime series including Murder Uncut (Cineflix Rights) and Killer Cases (Cineflix Rights); reality crime-fighting shows, such as Busted in Bangkok: Thai Tourist Police (Blue Ant Media) and Prison Down Under (Fred Media), as well as critically acclaimed drama productions based on true events, including The Sixth Commandment (Banijay Rights), Des (All3Media International), The Hunt for a Killer (Banijay Rights), and The Serpent (ITV Studios).
