RT and Russian propaganda sites banned in Romania
The Romanian government has announced the blocking of several Russian propaganda sites. At the same time, the Russia Today channel will be removed, today, from the grid of cable companies, Dan Cărbunaru, the spokesman of the Government announced.
"Starting tonight, the last operator providing TV services will stop broadcasting Russia Today in Romania. No operator will have this active service," said Dan Cărbunaru. Cărbunaru also spoke about a number of sources identified as spreading false information in the context of the crisis in Ukraine. These are several news sites, some that have been shut down and others that are being blocked: profitsmall.com, yourincome.site, ru.md.sputniknews.com, md.sputniknews.com, ro.md. sputniknews.com, citestesitu.com, rtnews.ro and cloudx.ro. The move comes after the head of the European Commission announced yesterday the ban on Russia Today and Sputnik from across the European Union. Russia Today's editor-in-chief, Margarita Symonian, reacted yesterday on the Russia Today website when she was still active in Europe. "We know how to do our job when we are banned. These lovers of freedom have been preparing us for this for eight years," said Margarita Simonyan. The Republic of Moldova also decided on Saturday to ban the Sputnik and gagauznews.md sites. RELATED
